Developmental Edit ~ $500-800*

Stage: Ideal for writers who have a COMPLETED MANUSCRIPT or draft and want a thorough 

analysis of what’s working and what is not.  

Developmental editing focuses on the big picture aspects of the story. It analyzes what’s working and what is not, and provides targeted feedback and suggestions for improvement. The goal of developmental editing is to help the author refine their vision, and improve the novel’s clarity and impact.

This package includes: 

• An in-depth (5 to 10 pages) editorial letter with detailed notes about the big-picture elements of the manuscript, including structure, plot holes, character arcs and character motivation, secondary characters, trajectory, pacing, world-building, theme, style, and more
• Line notes and chapter markup of the first 2 chapters, calling out more granular issues (editing, punctuation, sentence structure, and questions/comments on the big picture elements noted above, etc.) for clarification
• One 45-minute video call to discuss

Deluxe Developmental Edit with Full Manuscript Markup ~ $1,300-3,000* 

(price depends on length of manuscript)

This package includes:

• An in-depth (5 to 10 pages) editorial letter with detailed notes about the big-picture elements of the manuscript, including structure, plot holes, character arcs and character motivation, secondary characters, trajectory, pacing, world-building, theme, style, and more
• Line notes and chapter markup of the full manuscript
• One 60-minute video call to discuss

*Actual price will be determined before committing to the project, and will involve an introductory 30-minute video call (no charge) and review of a two-page sample of your manuscript.

Spotlight Session ~ $400 

Stage: This is a budget-friendly option that's ideal for writers who have a COMPLETED MANUSCRIPT or draft and want high-level guidance on what's working and what is not.

This package includes:

• A 2-3 page report offering high-level feedback about your work-in-progress, including the positive aspects of the work; the elements that require attention; comments on character, plot, structure, style (language, diction, voice); marketability; and recommendations for next steps
• NO inline edits or comments, but the report will include specific examples from the manuscript of what works well, what does not, and suggestions for improvement
• One 30-minute video call to discuss.

Developmental Coaching Sessions ~ $600/month*

Stage: For clients who’ve completed one or more of the above packages. This is a great next step after a developmental edit–particularly for those feeling overwhelmed or daunted by the prospect of hefty revisions. We'll work together to ensure you feel supported as you tackle this necessary (but often intimidating) stage of your writing journey. 

This monthly package includes:

• Two deadlines per month where the writer submits up to 25 pages each (50 pages maximum per month)
• One 30-minute video call to discuss progress and help you stay accountable, as well as dealing with feelings of doubt, discouragement, etc., and providing encouragement and continuing guidance
• Ongoing email support

*Offered in 1, 3 or 6 month options, with a discount adjustment offered for longer-term agreements. The timeline for revisions will differ from one author to another. We will discuss together and determine a timeline that works for you and your unique situation.

Add-ons and One-off Coaching Sessions

Stage: For candidates who have completed one or more of the above. These add-ons can be purchased alone (after completion of another package) or added to any of the packages above.
